Armed Youth Caught by SOG in Surat After Firing Incident in Palsana
India, August 10, 2025: The Surat Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested a young man armed with a country-made pistol in connection with a firing incident reported in Palsana. The suspect, identified as Abhishek alias Kanu Vasava (22), a resident of Gokulpura village in Olpad taluka, was apprehended following a swift police operation.
According to officials, the incident occurred when two groups clashed in Palsana, during which shots were fired. Based on a tip-off, the SOG team, led by PSI J.J. Desai, tracked the suspect’s movements near Madhi Railway Bridge and detained him. During the search, officers recovered a loaded country-made pistol from his possession.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the weapon had been illegally sourced and was allegedly used in the firing incident. Police believe the shooting was linked to an ongoing dispute between the groups involved.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act. Authorities are now investigating the source of the firearm and whether more individuals are connected to the case.
SOG officials stated that strict action will be taken against those carrying illegal weapons in Surat district to maintain law and order.
