AMNS Corex-2 Plant Fire Tragedy: Industrial Safety Department Demands Startup SOP and Related Documents

Surat News AMNS: A major fire incident occurred at AMNS Company’s Corex-2 plant in Hazira, Surat, on December 31, resulting in the tragic death of four contract workers. In response to this incident, the Industrial Safety and Health (ISH) Department has initiated an investigation and requested documents from the company management for further action.

ISH Department to Take Legal Action Based on Investigation

The Joint Director of ISH, R.A. Patel, stated that documents related to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) followed during the plant’s startup, along with data regarding temperature and liquid chemical flow at the time of the fire, have been requested. Additionally, information regarding the contract workers and the police report will be collected. Based on this information, legal action will be taken under the Factory Act.

Sub-Divisional Officer Also Begins Investigation

The Sub-Divisional Officer of Olpad has started gathering documents such as the attendance register of the company’s staff, duty lists of workers and officers, stability reports, and compensation-related records. Statements from the plant head and employees present during the incident have also been recorded.

Technical Investigation and Document Analysis

A team of technical experts is currently analyzing the safety measures implemented at the plant and the actions taken during the fire. The company management has been asked to promptly submit details about the safety arrangements and plant operations.

Report to be Submitted to District Collector

The collected documents and information will be compiled and submitted to the Surat District Collector within the next two days. Based on this report, further actions will be taken to identify the causes of the fire and hold those responsible accountable.
