SGCCI Participates in ‘Voyage Sri Lanka 2024’ to Strengthen Bilateral Trade Relations with Sri Lanka and Other Nations

Surat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) delegation, led by President Mr. Vijay Mevawala, Vice President Mr. Nikhil Madrasi, former President Mr. Ramesh Vaghasia, Honorary Secretary Mr. Nirav Mandalewala, and Honorary Treasurer Mr. Mrunal Shukla, represented Surat and South Gujarat at the ‘Voyage Sri Lanka 2024’ event held at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo on November 26, 2024.

The event witnessed participation from Sri Lankan Commerce Minister Mr. Vasantha Samarasinghe, Chairman and CEO of EDB Sri Lanka Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Vice Admiral (Retd.) Anil Kumar Chawda from India, Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority Admiral Siri Mevan Ranasinghe, and over 30 international delegates, along with senior officials from the Sri Lankan government.

Key discussions during the event focused on enhancing tourism among nations, collaborative projects in trade, industry, and infrastructure development, and strengthening bilateral ties for mutual growth. Special emphasis was placed on fostering innovation, knowledge sharing, skill development, and trade partnerships to boost global trade and economic ties.

Addressing the international audience, Mr. Vijay Mevawala highlighted SGCCI’s commitment to expanding South Gujarat’s presence on the global stage. He emphasized that the delegation’s visit to Sri Lanka represents a proactive approach toward forging strong international collaborations. By connecting with stakeholders in Sri Lanka and other nations, SGCCI aims to create new business opportunities not only for South Gujarat but also for the Indian economy.

Mr. Mevawala further stated that SGCCI will organize follow-up meetings in Surat to implement the discussions and initiatives outlined during the event. He envisioned Surat and South Gujarat emerging as a global hub for trade and tourism through such active engagements.

This initiative marks a significant step in SGCCI’s efforts to promote partnerships that elevate South Gujarat’s industries to the international arena, fostering economic growth and cross-cultural cooperation for mutual benefit.
