Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, currently on a diplomatic visit to the United States, praised the symbolic depth of the term “Operation Sindoor,” calling it a brilliantly chosen name. Speaking at an event attended by Indian diaspora members, Tharoor highlighted how the term carries emotional and visual weight.
“‘Sindoor’ is not just a cultural symbol—it’s also not very different from the colour of blood,” Tharoor remarked, noting its relevance in a mission aimed at tackling terrorism. He added that the name reflects the seriousness and sacrifice involved in such military operations.
Tharoor’s comments come in the wake of India’s high-intensity anti-terror operation in Jammu & Kashmir, which has been widely lauded for its success and strategy. Operation Sindoor has already captured public imagination and political commentary, becoming a trending topic on social media.
The Congress leader emphasized the importance of naming in public consciousness and national morale. “Words matter. When the nation takes a stand against terror, even the name of the mission becomes part of that battle,” he stated.
His remarks have sparked both support and debate online, adding to the ongoing discussion around India’s shifting counterterrorism narrative.
