The report will provide an initial overview of the crash, which claimed 269 lives, including passengers, crew, and civilians on the ground.
Prepared by aviation authorities, the initial 4–5 page report will include technical observations about the aircraft, condition of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, performance of the flight crew, prevailing weather conditions, and airport control protocols at the time of the incident. It may also name the investigation officer-in-charge, and detail early findings on what may have gone wrong during takeoff.
ICAO Guidelines Require Report Within 30 Days
In line with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) norms, aviation authorities must submit a preliminary investigation report within 30 days of any aircraft accident. The report will also outline whether further, more detailed investigations are needed based on initial findings.

On June 12, 2025, Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating a flight from Ahmedabad to London, crashed moments after takeoff. There were 241 people on board, all of whom perished. Tragically, the aircraft also collided with a hostel building at a nearby medical college, killing 28 people on the ground.
