Gujarat High Court Extends Asaram’s Interim Bail by One Month
Ahmedabad, July 3, 2025 – The Gujarat High Court has extended the interim bail of rape convict and self-proclaimed spiritual leader Asaram Bapu by one month, citing medical reasons. Asaram had requested a three-month extension, but the court approved only one month after a detailed hearing.
Asaram was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Gandhinagar court in a rape case. Earlier, the Supreme Court had granted him interim bail on health grounds on January 7, 2025, valid until March 31. Later, the Gujarat High Court extended the bail until June 30, 2025.
Court Grants Extension After Medical Certificate Submission
During the hearing on his latest plea, Asaram’s lawyers submitted a medical certificate from the National Legal Services Authority, claiming he was elderly and suffering from multiple health conditions. Following a 90-minute court session, the Gujarat High Court granted a one-month extension, allowing Asaram to remain on interim bail until July 31, 2025.
This marks the third extension of interim bail since his conviction.
