Over 900 Earthquakes Rattle Remote Japanese Island in a Week; Residents Fear Tsunami

Tokyo, Japan – July 3, 2025: The remote island of Tokara, located in southern Japan, has been shaken by over 900 earthquakes in the past week, according to local authorities. The constant seismic activity has left residents sleep-deprived and anxious, with tremors continuing around the clock.

While the initial earthquakes were minor, the intensity has steadily increased, peaking at a magnitude of 5.5. The surrounding sea area has also shown heightened seismic activity, raising fears of a possible tsunami.

Doomsday Prophecy Resurfaces Amid Tremors

The panic has been further fueled by a resurfaced prophecy from Ryo Tatsuki, often referred to as the “Baba Vanga of Japan.” Years ago, Tatsuki predicted a massive disaster and devastating tsunami on July 5, 2025, striking Japan. In response, the Japanese government has activated its disaster preparedness protocols, similar to those used during the 2014 earthquake.

No Reported Casualties, but Widespread Fear

So far, there have been no casualties or major structural damage, but local authorities have issued safety warnings to all island residents. A local citizen told ABC Japan that fear has overtaken daily life.

Chizuko Atikawa (54) said, “Everyone is exhausted. Sleeping through the night has become impossible. We just hope it ends soon.”

Isamu Sakamoto (60), a community leader, added, “Sometimes it feels like the ground is trembling, even when it’s not. It’s gotten into our heads.”

Authorities continue to monitor the seismic situation closely and urge residents to remain alert.
