India’s Textile Industry Growing at 11% Annually: Union Minister
Surat: Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh recently visited various textile parks in Kim-Kosamba, located in Surat district. During the visit, he inspected several units at the Federal Textile Park in Mangrol’s Mahuvej-Kosamba area and reviewed housing facilities for employees.
The minister also toured manufacturing units of Citizen Umbrella Manufacturing Ltd. and Kusumnagar Pvt. Ltd., where he examined the production of parachute fabric, thermal protection jackets, and military segment units used by the armed forces.
Additionally, he visited Dodia Synthetics Ltd. in Kim, where he observed the yarn production unit that utilizes recycled plastic waste. Impressed by the company’s efforts, he highlighted its recycling capacity of 2.5 million tons, which is used to produce items like sarees, sweaters, shirts, and boots, significantly contributing to environmental protection.
Minister Giriraj Singh noted that India’s textile industry is growing at an impressive 11% annual rate, with the garment sector growing at 35%. He described Surat as a “mini India,” home to numerous operational textile units. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, India is progressing rapidly, and the government is committed to supporting all industries, he added.
The visit was attended by Mansukhbhai and Karshanbhai of Dodia Industries, along with other employees.
