Director Ashutosh Gowariker has released the official trailer and a new poster for his upcoming historical film, Panipat. The movie is based on the true events of the Third Battle of Panipat, a pivotal conflict between the Maratha Empire and the invading forces of Ahmad Shah Abdali.
Cast and Characters
The film features a lead cast portraying key historical figures:
- Arjun Kapoor stars as the valiant Maratha commander Sadashiv Rao Bhau.
- Sanjay Dutt portrays the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali.
- Kriti Sanon appears as Parvati Bai.
The trailer depicts the Marathas at the height of their power in India, facing a challenge from Abdali, who intends to conquer the territory. The production aims to recreate the 17th-century setting on a grand scale.

Following the release of individual character posters yesterday, a new group poster was shared today by Arjun Kapoor via social media. The poster features Kapoor, Dutt, and Sanon together, highlighting the central figures of the upcoming battle.
The trailer launch follows a special preview event held recently in Mumbai, attended by director Ashutosh Gowariker, producer Sunita Gowariker, and the lead cast.
