Many BJP Members Supported My Victory”: Gopal Italia’s Shocking Revelation

Junagadh, Gujarat: In a surprising statement, Gopal Italia, the newly elected Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Visavadar, claimed on Saturday that several BJP members played a role in his electoral victory. Speaking to the media in Junagadh, Italia acknowledged the behind-the-scenes support he received from individuals within the BJP, triggering unrest among the BJP’s top leadership and raising concerns about internal dissatisfaction.

Support from BJP and Bureaucracy
Italia revealed, “During the election, I received help from many good people within the BJP. They were aware of who stands for what values and what kind of ideology each candidate holds. Moreover, several junior government officials sincerely performed their duties—not in support of me or against anyone else, but in adherence to the Constitution. That’s a very commendable thing.”

He further added that his victory was not just the result of AAP’s efforts but also due to the crucial support of BJP well-wishers, local traders, farmers, and honest government employees.

A Direct Challenge to C.R. Patil
Italia also took a dig at the BJP leadership, saying, “Despite the entire state cabinet and both state and central BJP leaders campaigning in Visavadar, the people expressed their frustration by decisively defeating Kirit Patel.”

He directly challenged BJP Gujarat President C.R. Patil, urging him to stop internal sabotage, force Umesh Makwana’s resignation, and then contest elections from Botad to truly understand the public mood. It’s worth noting that Italia had previously challenged Patil on this same issue.

“Work, Not Name, Will Matter”
Promising development-focused leadership, Italia stated, “I will prioritize work over name and raise the concerns of the people of Visavadar in the Assembly.” He emphasized easing rural citizens’ access to government services by bringing key departments such as banks, government offices, and the forest department under one roof to avoid unnecessary hardship.

Post-oath, Italia plans to meet with government officials to present public concerns and ensure timely resolutions. He also highlighted upcoming priorities, including repairing roads damaged by the monsoon, addressing healthcare issues, controlling forced spraying of nano fertilizers, and tackling the growing threat of leopard attacks.
