X Tops the News Category on Apple’s App Store

The app climbed to the top position in the News category on Apple’s App Store in India, making it officially the No. 1 news app. For context, the rankings on Apple’s App Store or Google Play Store are determined by factors like app downloads and user searches, which can fluctuate frequently.

Surge in Popularity During Elections

X saw a significant surge in engagement during the U.S. presidential elections, particularly following Donald Trump’s victory. Musk openly supported Trump during the elections, which boosted activity on the platform. Musk kept users engaged by sharing live updates and interacting directly, leading to peak-time activity on X.

Record-Breaking User Activity

On election day, X recorded a staggering 434.1 billion user interactions per second, surpassing the previous record of 417 billion interactions per second set in July 2024. However, these figures were shared by Elon Musk and his team and have not been independently verified by any third-party agency.

With this achievement, X has further solidified its presence as a major player in the global news and social media space.
