Mahabharat Actor Saurav Gurjar Arrested in Hyderabad Case, Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody
Former WWE wrestler was detained at Mumbai airport after a woman filed a complaint alleging sexual exploitation on the promise of marriage
Hyderabad | September 21, 2026: Actor and former professional wrestler Saurav Gurjar, widely recognised for portraying Bhima in the television series Mahabharat, has been arrested in connection with a case registered in Hyderabad following a complaint by a 29-year-old woman.
Gachibowli police took Gurjar into custody after a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him. He was intercepted by immigration officials at Mumbai airport on September 17, following his arrival from the Middle East, according to police. He was subsequently taken to Hyderabad and produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
Woman’s Complaint Led to Police Case
The case was registered after the woman approached Gachibowli police on August 15. According to her complaint, she first came in contact with Gurjar through Instagram in 2021, and their communication later continued through WhatsApp.
She alleged that the two met in person for the first time on December 25, 2021, following which their relationship continued between India and the United States.
According to the complaint, Gurjar allegedly told her that he would marry her and provide her rights similar to those of a wife. She further alleged that he later revealed he was already married but continued making assurances about their future.
Allegations Include Job Loss and Financial Difficulties
The woman further alleged that Gurjar encouraged her to leave her job in the United States, telling her that they would establish a business together in India.
She claimed that she subsequently moved to India with those expectations. The complaint also alleges that whenever she raised questions about marriage, Gurjar would block her phone number or social media accounts and stop communicating with her.
According to her account, the situation caused emotional distress and financial difficulties. She also alleged that the circumstances affected her professional life.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
Gachibowli police registered the case under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a provision relating to sexual intercourse through deceitful means.
Police subsequently issued a Look Out Circular for Gurjar. After he was intercepted at Mumbai airport, the Hyderabad police team brought him back to the city for further legal proceedings.
A magistrate later ordered his 14-day judicial custody. The investigation is currently underway.
Who Is Saurav Gurjar?
Gurjar gained widespread recognition after playing Bhima in Star Plus’ Mahabharat. He later appeared in television projects including Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman.
Alongside acting, Gurjar pursued professional wrestling and joined WWE, where he performed under the ring name Sanga. He was also part of the tag team Indus Sher with Veer Mahaan before leaving WWE in 2024.
He later appeared in the Bollywood film Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, playing the character Zor.

The allegations made by the woman are currently under investigation and have not been established in court. Further developments in the case are expected as the police investigation progresses.
