The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, the company’s flagship smartphone launched earlier this year, has made headlines for reportedly saving the life of a Ukrainian soldier. According to multiple social media reports, the device blocked a large piece of shrapnel during active conflict, preventing what could have been a fatal injury.
Titanium Frame Stops Shrapnel Impact
During the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, a soldier’s Galaxy S25 Ultra was struck by shrapnel during a shelling incident. While the glass front shattered, the titanium chassis reportedly absorbed the impact, stopping the fragment from piercing through the device and potentially into the soldier’s body.
Images shared on the Samsung Ukraine Community Forum show the phone’s front glass completely shattered. It’s believed that the outcome could have been far more dangerous had the shrapnel hit the rear panel, which houses the battery.
Despite the phone being completely damaged and unusable, the soldier escaped without serious injury.
Samsung Steps In With Free Repair Offer
According to a quote from South Korean publication Naver, the soldier expressed disappointment over the loss of the device, saying, “The sad thing is that I only used it for 3 weeks.”
However, Reddit user @Dapper_Chance8742 claimed that a Samsung representative reached out and offered to repair the phone free of charge as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill.

This isn’t the first time a Samsung phone has been involved in a life-saving incident — in 2023, a Samsung device reportedly stopped a bullet, saving another Ukrainian soldier’s life. That phone, too, was damaged beyond repair but proved invaluable in the moment.
