Mumbai, July 25, 2025 – Reliance Retail is set to inaugurate its new flagship store under the ‘Swadesh’ brand at EROS, Mumbai, on July 25. Swadesh, a brand dedicated to promoting India’s rich cultural heritage and supporting traditional artisans, will showcase the finest in Indian handicrafts and textiles through this new retail destination.

Ahead of the grand opening, a traditional puja ceremony was held, attended by prominent members of the Ambani family, including Nita Ambani, her daughter Isha Ambani, daughters-in-law Shloka Mehta and Radhika Merchant. The event highlighted Swadesh’s vision of blending spirituality, tradition, and art into a unique retail experience.

Nita Ambani graced the ceremony in a handwoven Madurai cotton Gharchola saree crafted by artisans from Rajkot’s Rajshrudra, a process that took 10 months to complete. Styled by designer Manish Malhotra, she paired it with a vintage turquoise silk Kachhi blouse featuring antique gold embroidery.

Among her accessories, Nita wore a traditional gold Baj bandh (armlet), gifted to her by her maternal family during her wedding. Symbolizing legacy, love, and tradition, this heirloom will eventually be passed down to her daughter Isha, who plans to later give it to her own daughter, Adyashakti—thus continuing the family’s cherished customs.

She also wore a stunning Swadesh exclusive necklace—a handcrafted piece inspired by divine moments from the life of Lord Shrinath. Made with white gold and intricate threadwork, it embodied a blend of artistic expression and spiritual devotion.

Every detail in the attire and jewelry worn by the Ambani family at the ceremony served not only as a tribute to Indian culture but also as a powerful statement supporting local craftsmanship. The launch of this flagship Swadesh store promises to be a celebration of India’s timeless traditions, thoughtfully curated for the modern world.

Swadesh aims to bridge the gap between India’s age-old artistry and contemporary global audiences, offering products that are deeply rooted in heritage yet elevated in experience.
