Google Theft Detection Lock Feature: Your Phone Will Automatically Lock if Stolen, AI Will Alert You

Google is rolling out a new feature designed to help prevent smartphone theft. The feature, called Google Theft Detection Lock, aims to protect Android smartphones from being stolen. This new feature will be available to Android users soon, enhancing security and preventing thieves from accessing stolen devices.

Google’s Three New Safety Features

According to leaked reports, Google is set to introduce three theft detection features: Smartphone Theft Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock. These features are specifically designed to safeguard stolen smartphones. If your phone gets stolen, these features will ensure it stays secure and prevent access to sensitive information.

Remotely Lock Your Phone

Starting early next year, Google will launch these three features for Android smartphones. The Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock will allow users to remotely lock their devices if stolen. This will prevent thieves from accessing any sensitive data. According to reports, the first two tools were spotted on Xiaomi 14T Pro, and some Pixel users have also confirmed the Remote Lock feature.

How Does the New Feature Work?

If someone attempts to steal your phone, Google AI will detect that it has been snatched from your hands. The AI will automatically lock the phone if the thief tries to flee, ride a bike, or drive a car. The Offline Device Lock feature allows the phone to disconnect from the internet and lock the screen automatically. You can also use Google’s Find My Device feature to lock your phone. The third feature, Remote Lock, allows you to lock your phone using your Google account.
