As Covid-19 cases rise again across India, hospitals are witnessing a sharp increase in OPD (Outpatient Department) visits. Most patients are reporting mild to moderate symptoms, but doctors have warned of high transmissibility.
The most common symptoms observed during this wave include:
-
Fever
-
Diarrhoea
-
Hoarseness of voice
-
Sore throat
-
Mild fatigue
-
Body aches
According to doctors from major urban hospitals, hoarseness and digestive issues are particularly prominent this time, unlike previous waves where cold and respiratory distress were more dominant.
The patient load in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata OPDs has nearly doubled over the past week. Most cases are being managed at home, but senior citizens and those with comorbidities are being monitored closely.
Experts believe the current surge may be linked to new variants like NB.1.8 and LF.7, which are more contagious but not necessarily more dangerous.
“We are seeing milder symptoms, but it spreads faster. People should not ignore fever or stomach-related issues now,” said a senior physician in Delhi.
💉 Health authorities continue to urge people to wear masks in crowded places, get booster doses, and avoid self-medication.
