Kolkata is fast emerging as a centre where sport is being transformed into a pathway for international careers. The All India Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate Do Federation, led by Hanshi Premjit Sen, has partnered with the Japan Education Center and Information Foundation to create direct global employment opportunities for Indian youth.
At a time when many skilled individuals move to larger cities in search of growth, this initiative is bringing international exposure and career access directly to Kolkata. Karate is no longer limited to competition—it is now evolving into a disciplined system that prepares young individuals for global industries, especially in Japan.
A major workshop under this initiative saw participation from over 400 karate students across West Bengal. The event showcased dynamic demonstrations reflecting skill, confidence, and readiness for international platforms. More importantly, it created a direct connection between students and global stakeholders, opening doors to internships, employment opportunities, and cultural exchange.
The event was attended by eminent dignitaries including Chandan Roy Choudhury (President, Bengal Olympic Association), Imran Zaki (Hon’ble Secretary, St. Stephen’s School), and Pawan Kumar Patodia (Chairman & Principal Owner, Kolkata Thunder Bolt).
International representation from the collaborating body included Raj Adhikary (President & CEO), Aditya Chapparia (Director – Placements), and Hiroaki Adachi (Japan Representative & Advisor). The initiative was further strengthened by the support of Sueyoshi Tsukasa (Chairperson, HICO) and Kazunari Matsumoto (President, Setu Yamato Co. Ltd.). Legal presence was marked by Nayan Chand Bihani (Senior Advocate, High Court, Calcutta).
Hanshi Premjit Sen, an 8th Dan Black Belt and internationally certified referee, continues to lead this movement with a vision that extends beyond sport—bridging the gap between training and employment on a global scale.
He stated, “Karate is no longer just about competition—it is becoming a gateway to international careers. Our youth have the potential, and this platform connects them directly to global opportunities.”
With its growing reach and impact, this initiative highlights how sport can redefine career pathways. Under this leadership, Kolkata is shaping a future where discipline, skill, and global opportunity come together.
