Disney Plus is a subscription-based streaming service offering cartoons, TV shows, and films on demand for as low as $6.99 per month. Disney Plus apps are available on Android, iOS, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, Xbox One, PS4, only to name a few but not on Nintendo’s Switch console. In some Asian countries, Hotstar and Disney Plus are sold as one subscription.
PS4 is more of a gaming console so you might ponder if Disney Plus is available on it. Yes! You can download Disney Plus on your PS4 from PlayStation Store (the same Store from which you download games).
The installation process is pretty straightforward. You must have a PlayStation account for setting up PlayStation Store. Once it’s set up, all you have to do is add Disney Plus to the download list. Before you install Disney Plus, sign up for a Disney Plus account from your phone or PC. I find signing up on consoles to be really throbbing because I have to move the left stick all the way to the right then to the left and tap those D Pad buttons frantically to get my email address in.
Steps for Downloading Disney Plus on PS4
- Launch the PS Store.
- In the Store’s search box, you have to search for ‘Disney’.
- Disney Plus app icon will pop up. Tap the ‘X’ button to view more information about Disney Plus then add it to your download list.
If you like watching Disney movies and have a PS4, you could watch those movies on your TV’s screen. Laptops and phones have a relatively smaller display compared to TV and if you really want to dive into the film, your PS4 and TV got you covered! It’s even better if you have children because Disney Plus has a lot of content aimed at kids. You just put a show up for your children and they are going to stare at the screen while you get your chores done.

However, Disney Plus is not available yet available on PS3 and Disney hasn’t got any plans to bring its app to Sony’s last generation of console.
How Much is the Price for Disney Plus Subscription on PS4?
“Why would I get Disney Plus? I’ve got Netflix already!” Netflix does not have the rights to stream all the best shows on earth. Disney Plus offers some great movie series like Pirates of the Caribbean. Disney Plus is $6.99 a month and only $69.99 for a whole year (slightly less compared to paying monthly).
Other Streaming Apps on PS4
Netflix and Hulu are also available on PS4. There are also some region-locked streaming apps on PS4. BBC iPlayer and NowTV, for instance, are available only in the UK and offer some great TV shows and cartoons! Disney Plus isn’t the only choice here so you are free to choose your streaming service and get its app on your PS4. There are a few issues with the apps I mentioned above though. Hulu will show you more ads than a show itself. BBC iPlayer’s HD mode does not always work the way it’s supposed to. There are no premade collections of movies on Netflix, unlike Disney Plus.
