Nepal’s PM Oli Dismisses Rumors of Strained India Ties, Says Visit to India ‘Only a Matter of Time’
PM Oli Calls Meeting with PM Modi ‘Productive and Cordial’ at BIMSTEC Summit
Kathmandu: Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli described his recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi—held on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit—as productive, cordial, and forward-looking.
Speaking at a press conference upon his return to Kathmandu on Saturday, PM Oli said the two leaders had reaffirmed their shared commitment to further elevate bilateral relations. He emphasized that the discussion reflected mutual respect and a desire to strengthen ties between the neighboring countries.
Addressing media questions regarding a potential strain in Nepal-India relations, PM Oli dismissed such reports as “mere rumors.” He added that the meeting with PM Modi was even more cordial than their last interaction at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
In response to a question about whether he would visit India before the upcoming Sagarmatha Sambaad, PM Oli said, “It is only a matter of time.”
