Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the DB Patil Navi Mumbai International Airport on October 8, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation sector.
With this, Mumbai becomes one of the few cities globally — along with London, New York, and Tokyo — to have multiple international airports. The new airport is designed to reduce air traffic congestion and enhance global connectivity for India’s financial capital.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport is built with modern architecture, advanced technology, and sustainable infrastructure, making it one of the most advanced airports in the country.
According to officials, commercial operations are expected to begin in December 2025, transforming Navi Mumbai into a new hub for international travel, similar to Dubai and Singapore’s Changi Airport.
Once fully functional, the DB Patil Navi Mumbai International Airport is expected to handle millions of passengers annually and contribute significantly to Maharashtra’s economic growth and tourism development.
