New Delhi, India: Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following a failed attempt by Pakistan to target Indian schools and hospitals located near air force bases. In a swift and powerful response, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precision airstrikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting key military installations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that these operations are still ongoing.
Background: Operation Sindoor Launched After Terror Attack in Pahalgam
The current conflict intensified after a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that claimed innocent lives. In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor, a coordinated military campaign aimed at eliminating terror infrastructure across the border. During the initial phase, Indian forces destroyed nine terrorist camps situated in Pakistan and PoK.
Pakistan’s Escalation: Attempts to Target Civilian and Military Infrastructure
Since the Indian strikes, Pakistan has resorted to increased hostilities along the Line of Control (LoC) and international border. In a joint press briefing, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, General Sophia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh revealed that Pakistan attempted multiple attacks on Indian Air Force installations using drones, fighter jets, and long-range missiles.
More than 26 infiltration attempts were made along the LoC and the border, most of which were successfully repelled by Indian forces. Despite India’s preparedness, air bases in Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, Bhuj, and Bathinda suffered minor damage due to Pakistani attempts, including a high-speed missile strike at 1:40 AM targeting a base in Punjab.
Shockingly, Pakistan also attempted to target hospitals and school zones in Srinagar, Udhampur, and Awantipora, drawing severe condemnation from Indian authorities for attacking civilian infrastructure in violation of international law.
India’s Counteroffensive: Precision Strikes on Strategic Pakistani Assets
In a calibrated and powerful response, the Indian Armed Forces launched precision airstrikes against Pakistani military infrastructure. Targets included command and control centers, radar stations, weapon storage facilities, and communication hubs.
Key Pakistani military bases struck include:
-
Rafiki
-
Murid
-
Chaklala
-
Rahimiya Khan
-
Sukoon
Additionally, radar sites in Pasrur and the aviation complex in Sialkot were also neutralized. The Indian Air Force used advanced air-launched weapons and fighter jets to ensure minimum collateral damage and maximum strategic impact.
Pakistan’s Misuse of Civilian Flights and Disinformation Campaign
India also raised alarm over Pakistan’s use of civilian aircraft as shields. Flights departing from Lahore were reportedly used to mask military movements in international air corridors—putting civilian lives at grave risk.
Moreover, Pakistan launched a disinformation campaign on social media, falsely claiming the destruction of major Indian assets including:
-
The S-400 air defense system in Adampur
-
BrahMos missile base in Nagrota
-
Artillery positions in Dehradun
-
Frontline installations in Chandigarh
India has categorically denied all these claims, calling them baseless and aimed at misleading the global community.
Heavy Shelling on LoC: India Warns Against Escalation
Pakistani forces also initiated heavy shelling and drone attacks across Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor sectors, to which the Indian Army responded effectively. Pakistani casualties and equipment loss have reportedly been significant.
