To prevent fraud and ensure transparency in gold purchases, the Government of India has made hallmarking and a Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) number mandatory for all gold jewellery. What is the HUID Number?
The HUID is a 6-digit alphanumeric code stamped on every hallmarked gold item. It certifies the jewellery’s purity and traceability. Using this number, anyone can verify the authenticity of the gold item.
How to Check Gold Purity with the BIS Care App
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has launched the BIS Care app, available on both Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, to help customers verify their gold jewellery.
