Chamber of Commerce Educates Surat MSME Entrepreneurs on Business Growth Through Walmart Vriddhi Program

Surat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) organized a program titled “Walmart Vriddhi Supporting Startups & MSMEs in Exploring E-Commerce Opportunities” on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 5:30 PM at Samhita Building, Sarsana, Surat. The event featured Mr. Harshal Tanawale, Regional Head of Walmart Vriddhi, as the expert speaker, who guided MSME entrepreneurs of Surat on the benefits of the Walmart Vriddhi program.

SGCCI President Mr. Vijay Mehawala welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the vital role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India’s economic development. He highlighted that initiatives like Walmart Vriddhi empower MSMEs to enter global markets and become globally competitive.

The Walmart Vriddhi program offers numerous benefits to MSMEs, including training in marketing, logistics, quality management, and technology skills. It provides opportunities to join Walmart’s global supply chain, preparing businesses for export and fostering economic growth by increasing India’s export potential. This initiative is poised to generate significant employment opportunities, contributing to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Importance of E-Commerce for MSMEs:
Mr. Harshal Tanawale elaborated on the advantages of e-commerce, such as 24/7 visibility, cost-effective marketing, flexibility in accepting orders from anywhere, and streamlined financial transactions. He emphasized the vast market opportunities within India and abroad, enabling businesses to scale their product sales effectively. He also provided insights into the 31 learning modules and various courses designed specifically for MSMEs under the Walmart Vriddhi program.

CSR and Digital Tools for MSMEs:
He highlighted that Walmart Vriddhi operates as part of Walmart’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, offering free training, mentoring, and digital tools to help businesses achieve new heights. The program enhances local suppliers’ expertise and provides advice to help businesses thrive on a pan-India platform. Moreover, Walmart Vriddhi assists businesses in exporting globally.

Key Requirements to Join Walmart Vriddhi:
Mr. Tanawale outlined the prerequisites for joining the Walmart Vriddhi program, which include an Import-Export Code (IEC), GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number), PAN number, prior export experience, e-commerce experience, and a U.S. return address.

Chamber Leadership and Participation:
SGCCI Vice President Mr. Nikhil Madrasi delivered a keynote address, while Honorary Secretary Mr. Nirav Mandalevala outlined the program details. Group Chairman Mr. Kiran Thummare expressed gratitude to the attendees, and MSME Committee Chairman Mr. Manish Bajrang coordinated the event. Committee member Mr. Dilip Singh Gehlot introduced the speaker.

The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session where Mr. Tanawale satisfactorily addressed various queries from MSME entrepreneurs. The program marked its closure with a vote of thanks, emphasizing its success in empowering local businesses.
