In a significant step toward promoting science, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Regional Science Center on 29th September 2022, located on a 20-acre campus near Nari village in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, built at a cost of approximately 100 crore rupees. This center aims to serve as a valuable scientific resource not only for students in Bhavnagar but also from Botad, Amreli, and Surendranagar.
The Regional Science Center’s mission is to foster a scientific outlook among children and youth. Over the past two years, it has attracted more than 250,000 visitors, including over 80,000 school students. Operated under the Department of Science and Technology of the Gujarat government, the center places special emphasis on promoting STEM education among children.
The center houses five major galleries dedicated to various scientific concepts and technologies, including the Marine Aquatics Gallery, Automobile Gallery, Nobel Prize Gallery, Electro Mechanics Gallery, and Biology Gallery. Each gallery features educational materials and interactive displays to spark visitors’ interest in science.
Additionally, the center hosts various workshops and programs such as AI workshops, summer science camps, and children’s science exhibitions to enhance learning and build scientific skills among young minds.
According to the project director, the science center is not just a place for education; it is a unique blend of learning and entertainment. The goal of the center is to ignite a passion for science and encourage scientific thinking among the residents of Bhavnagar and nearby areas.
The Regional Science Center in Bhavnagar has become a hub for students and the general public, inspiring a love for science and aiming to reach new heights in technology and scientific exploration in the future.
