A cybersecurity awareness program was held at the Adajan Performing Arts Center, organized by the Director of ICT and e-Governance under the State’s Science and Technology Department. The program aimed to educate government employees from Surat, Navsari, Bharuch, Valsad, and Tapi districts about the latest cyber attacks, sensitive information security, and cyber incidents.

In the first session of the seminar, ICT officer Hardik Nariya provided detailed information on cybersecurity, various types of cyber attacks, cyber threats, and sources of those threats. Employees were made aware of how to protect themselves from such cyber attacks through desktop and email security, password protection, and the use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Personal Identifiable Information (PII) such as Aadhaar, mobile numbers, and data security.

Additionally, participants were advised to avoid financial transactions on public Wi-Fi and were given detailed insights into social engineering and search engine safety to enhance their cybersecurity awareness. The security session also included important information regarding the IT Act and the DPDPA (Digital Personal Data Protection Act).

Everyone was urged to stay vigilant regarding cybercrime, avoid falling prey to temptations of quick financial gains, and report any incidents of cyber fraud immediately to the helpline number 1930. The public was also encouraged to utilize the helpline 1930 effectively.

The seminar was organized under the guidance of ICT officer Prashant Chauhan, Assistant Director Sanjay Bhabor, and Deputy Director Dr. Deven Pandya.
