Corona virus has been declared as pandemic by the World Health Organization as nearly more than 1,20,000 people have been found infected with it and more than 4,000 have lost their lives worldwide.
Corona virus in India
Corona virus has been spreading in India as well and till now, 75 people have been found infected with it. While the government is taking steps to contain the disease, the citizens should also take precautions and avoid going to crowded places, wash their hands regularly and use alcohol based sanitizers.
Effect on Bollywood
Corona virus scare will definitely affect Bollywood as the Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government has implemented the provisions of Epidemic Act and has issued the order of closing the cinema halls till March 31. Also read about, Rohman Shawl, Naveen Polishetty.
As Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) are among the biggest markets of the movies, this decision will certainly had an adverse impact on the flicks like Akshay Kumar starrer “Sooryavanshi” which is slated to release on March 24 and Irrfan Khan starrer “Angrezi Medium” that is going to hit the theatres tomorrow (March 13).
Bollywood and international markets
The trade analysts are of the opinion that corona virus scare will also affect the overseas business of the films as Middle-East, North America and Australia are pretty important markets and they contribute hugely in the collections of Hindi movies.
Postponing the release date
The release dates of some movies may get shifted now because releasing a movie in such an environment is certainly not advisable. Even if the cinema halls are operational, people will still avoid visiting the theatres as they are very crowded.
