Google has introduced a new video player update for Google Drive, allowing users to fast-forward videos. A new button has been added specifically for this purpose. Recently announced in a blog post, this feature also includes a modern layout and design. Users can now use the new button to forward or rewind videos in 15-second intervals, located alongside the play/pause button. Additionally, playback speed and captions can be easily adjusted without accessing the media player settings.

According to Google, this feature will support the upcoming Google Vids video editor, which utilizes the Gemini large language model (LLMO). Currently, the new video player is being rolled out for Rapid Release domain accounts, with a full rollout expected within 15 days. Scheduled Release domain accounts will start receiving the feature from November 18, visible within a 3-day window.

The feature is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
