3 Key Tips for Buying Gold

1. Buy Only Certified Gold
Always choose gold that is BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certified. Certified gold features a six-character Hallmark Unique Identification Number (HUID), which is alphanumeric—for example, AZ4524. This hallmark confirms the gold’s purity and authenticity.

2. Verify the Price
Before making a purchase, cross-check the current price and weight from multiple reliable sources, such as the IBJA website. Gold prices vary depending on purity—24K, 22K, or 18K. While 24K is the purest form, it is usually not used for making jewelry due to its softness.

3. Avoid Cash Payments and Always Get a Bill
Opt for digital payment methods like UPI, debit/credit cards, or internet banking instead of cash. Always request an invoice for your purchase. If ordering online, thoroughly inspect the packaging and contents upon delivery.
