Ahmedabad Set to Welcome New City President After Uttarayan Festival

Central Home Minister Amit Shah will be in Gujarat for a three-day visit starting January 13. He will participate in Uttarayan celebrations across the state, beginning with Ahmedabad. On January 14, he will engage with party workers and leaders in Gandhi Nagar, marking the occasion in Thaltej, New Ranip, and Sabarmati. He will also attend the inauguration of a new police station in Ghatlodiya and the development work of housing projects.

On January 16, Shah will be in Vadnagar, where he will inaugurate the Inspiration Complex at the school where Prime Minister Narendra Modi once studied.

Strong Contenders Emerge for Ahmedabad City President Position

Amid discussions within the BJP, speculations are rife regarding the appointment of new district and city presidents in Gujarat. The announcement for Ahmedabad’s new city president is likely to be made after the Uttarayan festival. Several contenders, including current city president Amit Shah and youth leader Dr. Ritvij Patel, are strong candidates for the position.

Possibility of District and City Presidents Being Announced from January 16

Sources indicate that Amit Shah will discuss the appointments for district and city presidents during his Gujarat visit. Central Observer Bhupendra Yadav will also be visiting Gujarat on January 15-16. The discussions regarding the appointments are ongoing, and key cities like Ahmedabad will likely see new announcements starting January 16.

Efforts for Current City President to Repeat

The race for Ahmedabad city president has attracted over 25 contenders, including current city president Amit Shah, who is making efforts to get reappointed. However, some MLAs have opposed his return to the post. Meanwhile, youth leader Dr. Ritvij Patel, who previously held key positions in the party, is considered a strong contender. Additionally, Hitesh Barot, former Standing Committee Chairman in the Municipal Corporation and corporator from Thaltej, has also entered the fray.

Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner Declares No-Drone Fly Zone

Ahead of Amit Shah’s visit to Gujarat, stringent security measures have been put in place. The Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner has declared the city a No-Drone Fly Zone to ensure the safety of the Home Minister and the general public. This prohibits the operation of remotely piloted drones, small aircraft, powered aircraft, hang gliders, and similar equipment. Any individual caught violating this restriction will face legal action.
