Surat Police Deploys Drone Surveillance to Curb Anti-Social Activities at Tapi Riverfront

Surat, July 21, 2025: In a bid to restore safety and public confidence at the Tapi Riverfront, Surat Police have launched a high-tech drone surveillance initiative targeting anti-social elements frequently reported in the area. The campaign is part of a broader effort to reclaim the 4-kilometer-long riverfront for safe, peaceful public use.

Under the direction of DCP Zone-4, drone patrols have been deployed across the entire stretch of the riverfront, especially focusing on densely vegetated zones, where reports of inappropriate gatherings and illicit behavior had raised serious concerns.

Residents, Especially Women, Hesitated to Visit Due to Safety Concerns
Despite being developed at a cost of several crores and designed to enhance the city’s beauty, the Tapi Riverfront had become a hotspot for anti-social behavior. Locals, particularly women, had started avoiding the area due to the presence of suspicious groups engaging in immoral activities behind bushes and secluded areas.

In response to these complaints, the Surat Police took decisive action. Live drone feeds allowed them to quickly identify trouble spots. Bike squads were dispatched on the ground to confront and disperse individuals found loitering or participating in unlawful behavior.

Message is Clear: Unlawful Activities Will Not Be Tolerated
Police officials emphasized that while many genuine citizens visit the riverfront for leisure and social purposes, the presence of miscreants was deterring the general public. Through this surveillance initiative, the department has sent a strong message such behavior will no longer be tolerated.

This effort also reinforces the city police’s commitment to women’s safety, ensuring that public spaces like the Tapi Riverfront remain peaceful, secure, and family-friendly. The initiative will continue, with regular monitoring to deter future incidents.
