Surat Municipal Corporation Begins Construction of 19 Schools Under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Worth ₹45.20 Crore

In the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Education Prafulbhai Panseriya laid the foundation stone for 19 primary schools across various zones of Surat Municipal Corporation under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. The event was held at School No. 210/142 in Harinagar, Vikas Colony, Udhna. The project, with an estimated cost of ₹45.20 crore, aims to enhance the city’s educational infrastructure significantly.

These schools will lead to the construction of 280 classrooms, benefitting approximately 7,057 students with improved educational facilities.

  • Central Zone: School No. 41, Malesar Mohalla, Rustampura – ₹2.18 crore.
  • Athwa Zone: School No. 03, Umra Gamatal – ₹2.82 crore.
  • Varachha-A Zone: School No. 90, Bhathni Wadi, Mini Bazar – ₹3.86 crore.
  • Varachha-B Zone:
    • School No. 384, M.P.O. Khadsad – ₹39.86 lakh.
    • School No. 390, M.P.O. Gothan – ₹39.86 lakh.
  • Udhna-A Zone:
    • Schools No. 213/214/215, Bhestan Gamatal – ₹9.25 crore.
    • Schools No. 197/198, Meera Nagar, Udhna – ₹4.30 crore.
    • School No. 210/142, opposite Vikas Colony – ₹5.28 crore.
  • Udhna-B Zone: School No. 374, M.P.O. Uber – ₹79.72 lakh.
  • Katargam Zone:
    • Schools No. 117/120, Gotalawadi – ₹3.97 crore.
    • School No. 171, near Katargam Police Chowki – ₹2.73 crore.
    • School No. 172, opposite Desai Wadi, Katargam Bus Stand – ₹3.81 crore.
    • School No. 389, M.P.O. Vasvari, Olpad – ₹79.72 lakh.
  • Rander Zone:
    • School No. 163, opposite Varigruh, Jahangirabad – ₹99.65 lakh.
    • School No. 395, Halpatiwas – ₹59.79 lakh.
    • School No. 398, M.P.O. Bhensan – ₹79.72 lakh.
    • School No. 397, Ichhapor, Khadi Maholla – ₹59.79 lakh.
    • School No. 396, Rakhal Nagar Colony – ₹79.72 lakh.

Focus on Language and Infrastructure

The schools will provide education in Gujarati and Marathi mediums, offering a robust educational environment to students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Dignitaries Present

The event saw participation from notable leaders, including MLAs Sandeepbhai Desai, Manubhai Patel, Deputy Mayor Dr. Narendra Patil, Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel, and others. Municipal Corporation officials, committee chairpersons, corporators, and a large number of citizens were also in attendance.

This initiative underlines the government’s commitment to strengthening Surat’s educational foundation and ensuring holistic development for its students.
