Private Schools Cannot Force Students to Wear Sweaters of Specific Colors
– Shri Prafullbhai Panseriya, State Education Minister
In light of the ongoing winter season, State Education Minister Shri Prafullbhai Panseriya has issued a stern warning that private schools cannot compel students to wear sweaters of a specific color.
The minister stated that the state government is always supportive of parents and children. To ensure no child loses their life due to cold weather, the government is taking several measures. All District Education Officers have been directed to ensure that no primary, secondary, or higher secondary school pressures students to wear thin, low-quality sweaters that are part of the school’s uniform but fail to provide adequate protection against the cold. If any school administration insists on students wearing their prescribed sweaters, parents are advised to report the matter to the District Education Office.
Minister Panseriya appealed to private school administrators to refrain from forcing students to wear specific sweaters. He also urged parents to dress their children in warm clothing such as sweaters, hats, and gloves that they deem suitable for protection against the cold. Schools, whether private or otherwise, cannot object to such protective clothing.
If any school insists on enforcing its specific sweater policy, parents are encouraged to file a complaint with the District Education Office. The state government will take strict action against such schools, the minister added.
