Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde held a press conference on Thursday, addressing questions about the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Shinde stated that whatever decision Prime Minister Narendra Modi makes will be acceptable to him. He assured that Shiv Sena would not create any obstacles and expressed readiness to work together with allies.
Amidst the ongoing speculation about who will become the next CM of Maharashtra, Shinde clarified during the press meet that he never considered himself a contender for the post. “I have always worked as a common man, focusing on the welfare of the state. I am a beloved brother to Maharashtra’s cherished sisters,” he said.
During the press conference, Shinde revealed that he had personally informed PM Modi that there were no internal hurdles in their alliance and that any decision made by the Prime Minister would be accepted. He reiterated that the Maha Yuti (grand alliance) is strong and committed to working together.
“I Have Always Served as a Common Man”
Shinde further emphasized his humility, saying, “I never thought of myself as a Chief Minister. I have always worked as a common man, serving the people. I am grateful to Amit Shah and PM Modi for their support and for entrusting me with the CM position earlier.”
Political Tug-of-War Over CM Position
Since the announcement of the Maharashtra Assembly election results, there has been intense speculation over who will assume the Chief Minister’s role. Supporters of Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar have been openly vying for their leaders to be given the position. On the day of the results, all three groups publicly pushed for their respective candidates to become CM. Currently, Shinde is the caretaker Chief Minister.
Key Leaders Summoned to Delhi
In a significant development, BJP’s high command has called senior leaders, including Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, and Praful Patel, to Delhi for an important meeting. The meeting is expected to address crucial decisions regarding Maharashtra’s political landscape. Discussions may include the current political scenario, future strategies, and key issues related to the alliance between BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction).
No Confusion Over CM Post: Naresh Mhaske
Earlier, Shiv Sena leader Naresh Mhaske clarified that there is no confusion regarding the Chief Minister’s post. “Governments are not formed overnight; the process is underway. The CM’s name will be announced soon, and the Maha Yuti leaders will make a decision. We have indeed demanded the CM post, similar to smaller parties receiving the position in states like Bihar,” Mhaske said.
