Surat: A delegation from The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), led by President Mr. Vijay Mehawala, Vice President Mr. Nikhil Madrasi, Former President Mr. Ramesh Vaghasiya, Honorary Secretary Mr. Nirav Mandalevala, and Honorary Treasurer Mr. Mrunal Shukla, along with Group Chairman Mr. Giridhar Gopal Mundra, CA Mitish Modi, and Managing Committee Member Mr. Amit Shah, attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi.
The AGM witnessed the participation of Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal, and Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Mr. Bhupender Yadav.
During the panel discussions addressing industrial issues, SGCCI President Mr. Vijay Mehawala and other office bearers raised various trade and industry-related concerns. They specifically questioned the applicability of BIS standards on heavy industries and yarn. Additionally, they advocated for relief to non-polluting industries within Surat city limits, such as plain looms, embroidery units, paper transfer units, diamond processing, zari industries, and others, to support their expansion and business growth.
The SGCCI delegation also engaged in direct discussions with Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Mr. Bhupender Yadav, regarding industrial challenges and pollution issues in Vapi and Ankleshwar GIDC areas.
Furthermore, the chamber representatives met with Union Minister of Jal Shakti and Gujarat BJP State President Mr. C.R. Patil to discuss key matters affecting the region.
