Former Union Minister and senior Bihar leader RK Singh quits BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)  after being suspended for alleged anti-party activities. The action came a day after the BJP-led NDA won the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. Along with Singh, two other leaders — Ashok Agarwal, a Legislative Council member, and Usha Agarwal, the Mayor of Katihar — were also suspended.

A notice issued by BJP’s Bihar headquarters asked the three leaders to explain within a week why they should not be expelled. The letter stated that their actions had harmed the party and violated its discipline. According to sources, the suspension is only a formality and all three leaders are likely to be expelled soon.

RK Singh, a former MP from Arrah, had been openly criticising the BJP’s Bihar leadership ever since he lost the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He repeatedly targeted Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal, accusing them of damaging the party’s image. He also demanded clarification on corruption allegations made by Prashant Kishor against both leaders. Singh even called them “murder accused” and urged voters not to support “tainted candidates”.

Singh also questioned Choudhary’s educational qualifications and criticised JDU leader Anant Singh, saying it was better “to drown in a handful of water than vote for them”.

RK Singh is a retired IAS officer and served as Union Power Minister in 2017 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He won the Arrah Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and 2019 but lost in 2024. After receiving the suspension notice, he immediately resigned from the BJP, ending his decade-long association with the party.
