Mumbai Indians’ batter Ryan Rickleton called their recent loss to Punjab Kings a “wake-up call” as the IPL 2025 league stage reaches its crucial final weeks.
Speaking after the match, Rickleton said,
“We didn’t execute our plans well. PBKS were sharp and took advantage. It’s a bit of a wake-up call at the right time.”
Mumbai Indians, a five-time champion side, were outplayed by PBKS who sealed a top-two finish with that win. The MI batting lineup struggled against pace early and failed to chase down a competitive target, despite late efforts from the middle order.
Rickleton remained optimistic:
“Losses like these remind us not to take any game lightly. The good thing is, we still control our playoff fate.”
The batter emphasized that the team would review its errors and bounce back stronger. With the playoffs in sight, MI aims to sharpen strategies and finish the group stage on a high note.
Punjab Kings, on the other hand, looked well-set with strong contributions from Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya, both of whom scored brisk fifties to power PBKS to a solid total.
MI now heads into their next match needing a win to stay alive in the race. As Rickleton put it:
“One game can change everything in IPL. We’re ready to respond.”
