Gujarat witnessed a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures across most major cities, with early mornings and late nights turning significantly colder. According to the latest temperature readings, Naliya remained the coldest location in the state for yet another day, recording a minimum of just 11°C. This sharp dip marks the beginning of an intensified winter phase in many regions. Following Naliya, Vadodara recorded a minimum temperature of 19°C, while Ahmedabad registered 18.3°C. In Saurashtra, Porbandar experienced 14.7°C, and Rajkot dropped further to 13.8°C. These figures indicate that winter conditions have strengthened across the state, affecting both rural and urban regions. Weather officials noted that Gujarat is currently experiencing a “dual-season effect,” marked by chilly mornings and nights combined with warm afternoons. This phenomenon has become common in recent days as maximum temperatures remain slightly below normal, while minimum temperatures continue to drop. In coastal areas, Okha reported the highest minimum temperature of 21.8°C, whereas Surat recorded 20.4°C. Despite being warmer than other regions, these areas also witnessed a mild dip compared to the previous week. Ahmedabad, which saw a minimum of 18.3°C, recorded a daytime maximum of 31.3°C, clearly reflecting the dual-weather pattern. Residents of the city reported that while mornings required sweaters or light winter wear, afternoons felt warm enough to resemble early summer. The rapid shift between cold and warm conditions throughout the day has become increasingly noticeable, particularly for people stepping outdoors for work, school, or travel. Health officials have advised citizens to take precautions, especially children and the elderly, as sudden temperature shifts can increase the chances of seasonal illnesses such as colds, coughs, fever, and throat infections. Meteorological observations reveal that almost all districts across Gujarat have recorded temperatures lower than the seasonal average. The north-western belt including Kutch and parts of North Gujarat has been experiencing sharper declines in minimum temperatures, indicating the strengthening of cold winds from northern India. Weather experts predict that the cold wave may intensify further in the coming days as dry and chilly winds continue to move toward Gujarat. This could lead to a further drop of 1–2°C across several regions, particularly in interior districts. Farmers have welcomed the arrival of colder weather, as certain winter crops benefit from lower temperatures. However, horticulture experts warn that extreme cold in the coming days could affect sensitive fruit and vegetable crops if temperatures drop more than expected. Many cities including Rajkot, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, and Anand are likely to witness continued fluctuations, with cold mornings and warm afternoons forming the daily pattern. The tourism sector, particularly in locations like Kutch, Saputara, and Gir, is seeing a rise in visitors enjoying the pleasant winter conditions. As Gujarat prepares for a stronger winter phase, authorities urge people to dress appropriately and remain cautious while commuting during early morning hours due to increased fog in some regions. Further updates from the Meteorological Department will continue to track temperature changes and the potential intensification of winter across the state.
