Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most beloved superstars, passed away at the age of 89. The legendary actor breathed his last at his Mumbai residence, surrounded by the Deol family. His passing marks the end of an era in Hindi cinema, leaving the entire industry in deep grief. For several days, Dharmendra had been receiving treatment at home due to age-related complications. His health had been fluctuating since he was hospitalized earlier this month. Dharmendra’s mortal remains were taken to the Vile Parle crematorium on Tuesday afternoon. As the vehicle carrying his body arrived, the crematorium gate was immediately closed for privacy. The visibly devastated Deol family stood together during this deeply emotional moment. Actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Hema Malini, and Isha Deol remained by his side, receiving condolences from friends and colleagues. The news of Dharmendra’s demise shocked the film industry, prompting an outpouring of tributes. Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra’s co-star in Sholay, reached the crematorium with son Abhishek Bachchan. Their presence reflected the deep bond shared over decades. Actor Aamir Khan also visited the crematorium to offer his final respects, describing Dharmendra as “one of the warmest human beings the industry ever had.” Veteran writer Salim Khan, father of Salman Khan and co-writer of many hits, was among the first to arrive. Filmmaker Karan Johar confirmed the news on social media, posting a heartfelt tribute calling Dharmendra “a pillar of Indian cinema whose charm remains unmatched.” Earlier, Dharmendra had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on October 31 due to breathing difficulties. He spent several days under observation, even requiring ventilator support. Doctors discharged him on November 12, and the family was hopeful about his recovery. On November 11, false rumors of his death spread widely across social media, causing distress. Hema Malini and Isha Deol issued statements clarifying that he was alive and improving. At that time, Isha Deol shared a message urging people not to spread misinformation, saying that her father was under medical supervision and recovering. Sadly, just days later, Dharmendra passed away peacefully at home. Known as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” Dharmendra leaves behind a cinematic legacy spanning more than six decades. With iconic films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Satyakam, Anupama, Yaadon Ki Baarat and many more, he became one of the industry’s most loved and respected stars. His warmth, humility, and powerful screen presence earned him millions of fans across generations. Dharmendra’s passing marks the end of an era, leaving Bollywood and the nation mourning the loss of a true legend.
