India’s First Bullet Train Likely to Start by 2027

The first bullet train in India has been put in the limelight after Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that India can expect to get its first high-speed train to roll on August 15, 2027. This news has been well-received from some political personalities who stated this is an essential step and area to take pride in.

Addressing the media in New Delhi, the Railways Minister revealed, “Currently, the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Railway Corridor project is in progress. The initial operational route of the project would be between the cities of Surat and Bilimora, and further between Vapi to Surat. The total length of the project would be around 508 kilometers, and the construction of the project would be done with the help of the Japanese.”

Reacting to the news, the National Spokesperson of the JD (U), Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, said that the bullet train project should not be looked at only through the political lens. “As it happens with the missions to the moon or Mars, this project will also have its relevance and benefit for the common man,” he said, adding that it will allow many common men and women to travel faster once started.

He also said that the project should be treated as a part of the entire development work that the government is undertaking. He stated that it is a big achievement to get the bullet train to India and that it reflects good planning and execution.

Shaina NC, a leader from the political party Shiv Sena, also cheered this announcement and said it is a proud moment for the country. According to her, this Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train route has been built with collaboration from Japan and incorporates the best available technology. She further stated this project would be of immense assistance to all passengers and is a big step toward creating a developed country.
