New Delhi: Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting in New Delhi for implementing natural farming nationwide in mission mode. He stated that this historic initiative marks the beginning of India’s golden era under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister.
The Central Government has approved the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) as an independent, centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. The mission aims to promote natural farming in mission mode, with a total budget of ₹2481 crore, wherein ₹1584 crore will be borne by the Central Government and ₹897 crore by State Governments.
This initiative includes the establishment of 10,000 bio-input resource centers to ensure the availability of essential resources for natural farming. Additionally, agricultural science centers, universities, and farmer fields will develop model farms to promote natural farming practices.
Governor Devvrat stated that this mission will transform India’s agriculture sector, benefiting farmers, land health, and biodiversity. It will ensure safe and nutritious food for all, reduce dependency on external inputs, and lower farming costs. The plan aims to expand natural farming to 7.5 lakh hectares, reaching 1 crore farmers through 15,000 Gram Panchayat clusters.
Expressing gratitude, Governor Acharya Devvrat emphasized that this mission would improve the standard of living for farmers, protect biodiversity, and steer India toward self-reliance in the agriculture sector.
