In the Dindoli firing case, BJP worker Umesh Tiwari has been granted bail within 24 hours. Tiwari is accused of firing five rounds during a wedding ceremony, which led to two people being seriously injured. However, no section for attempted murder (307) has been added to the case, raising several questions in the city.

At the time of the incident, one person, Santosh Badhail, was severely injured by Tiwari’s pistol fire. According to doctors, Santosh underwent a two-and-a-half-hour surgery and will remain bedridden for about a month and a half. The bullet struck his urinary tract, causing significant pain.

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised over the police’s handling of the case. It is believed that Tiwari’s close ties with senior BJP and police officials may have led to leniency in the matter. Tiwari was granted a pistol license in 2020, reportedly due to the risks associated with his land dealings. There are also reports suggesting that his pistol license was obtained through the recommendation of a BJP leader’s PA.

Rather than adding attempted murder charges, the police have taken action under the Arms Act and other lesser sections. Lawyer Ilyas Patel commented that the police are conducting a defensive investigation, indicating an attempt to shield the accused.

When Tiwari was presented in court, the police did not seek his remand, and the court accepted his bail application. Later, the police added Section 135, in addition to the Arms Act, but did not include the attempted murder charge.

This entire incident has sparked discussions in the city, with many speculating that the police’s negligence and the influence of the BJP worker may have prevented stringent action against the accused.
