Surat, (Gujarat) [India]: Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a computerized draw for 111 houses under the EWS-1 and EWS-2 schemes at Chaprabhatha was conducted by Forest and Environment State Minister Mukeshbhai Patel. The draw was held among 420 applications, allocating permanent homes to several families and fulfilling their dream of owning a house.

On this occasion, Minister Patel highlighted that owning a home is a dream for every family. He mentioned that while many families work hard throughout their lives, they are often unable to achieve this dream. However, due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dreams of lakhs of families are becoming a reality. The government has notably been the first to provide permanent shelters to thousands of families residing on riverbanks. He further added that every parent dreams of providing a home for their children, ensuring they do not face hardships. The government is working to fulfill this dream for many.

Additionally, the minister emphasized the importance of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), through which citizens directly receive benefits from various welfare schemes in their bank accounts. The government has ensured primary amenities such as healthcare, education, ration, housing, electricity, and clean drinking water. He urged citizens to stay informed about various schemes. Under the PM Kisan Yojana, for instance, farmer families are receiving financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments. In the Olpad region alone, over 15,000 families have been allocated homes under the PM Awas Yojana.

Corporators Rajendrabhai Patel, Ajitbhai Patel, Bhavisha Patel, and officials from the Gujarat Housing Board, along with the beneficiaries of the housing scheme, were present at the event.
