Top BJP leaders held a meeting at the party headquarters on Monday to finalize the agenda for the election of the new BJP National President. This meeting was conducted under the supervision of BJP’s internal election in-charge, K Laxman.

Sources revealed that this election is expected to be mere formalities, as the recently appointed national working president, Nitin Nabin, who might be elected unopposed, would soon replace the incumbent national president, JP Nadda, who has been holding the position of the BJP national president on an extended term.

Before the final election, the meetings of the BJP National Council and the National Executive need to be organized, in accordance with the constitution of the party. The members of the National Council, representing various states, constitute the electoral college in the election of the national president.

The proposed date for the election has been set tentatively for January 20, and it will depend on the availability of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The date for the election will be officially announced soon.
