Babar Azam Resigns as Captain Amid Salary Delays? PCB Clarifies the Truth

Babar Azam recently stepped down as the captain of Pakistan’s ODI cricket team, sparking speculation about the reasons behind his decision. Reports from Pakistan suggest that the players, including Babar, have not been paid their salaries for the past four months. While no official statement has been made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Pakistani media claims that the financial situation of players has worsened.

Deteriorating State of Pakistan Cricket

The condition of Pakistan cricket seems to be deteriorating day by day, with frequent changes in the PCB leadership and no stability in the team’s captaincy. Babar Azam’s resignation has added to the concerns. According to media reports, prominent players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan are among those who have not received their salaries.

Women’s Team Also Affected

The issue isn’t limited to the men’s team. Pakistani media reports that the women’s cricket team, currently playing in the T20 World Cup in the UAE, has also been waiting for their salaries. The men’s team hasn’t been paid from July to October, and sponsorship payments for logos on their shirts have also been delayed for months.

This delay in salary payments has raised concerns about the financial management of the Pakistan Cricket Board, further complicating the already volatile situation in Pakistan cricket.
