Sundhyaben’s Determination to Encourage Other Women in the Village to Adopt Organic Farming

Surat, Thursday: The state government is moving forward with the goal of encouraging every farmer to shift from chemical farming to organic farming. The results of organic farming are becoming extraordinary. Sundhyaben Sanjaybhai Chaudhary, a progressive woman farmer from Bilvan village in Umrapada taluka of Surat district, has bid farewell to chemical farming and adopted organic farming.

Speaking about her journey, Sundhyaben says, “Last year, I received training under the Atma Project, where I learned about the growing popularity of organic farming, and I got inspired from that knowledge. Based on that, last year, I applied Jeevamrut and Agniastra to the ground, and the results were excellent. Encouraged by this success, this year, I used Ghan Jeevamrut, Chaas, Guwar Bato, and a mixture of other ingredients on the Dhangar crop, which proved to be very effective. I did not use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides, and the Dhangar crop showed remarkable growth.”

Sundhyaben further explains that Ghan Jeevamrut contains bacteria and Alsiya, making it useful as a base fertilizer before sowing, which helps in making the soil more fertile. She also mentions that spraying Jeevamrut on fresh plants leads to sturdier and healthier plant growth.

In the future, Sundhyaben is determined to encourage other women in the village to adopt organic farming. She aims to go door to door and educate them about its benefits. Talking about the importance of organic farming, she says, “Chemical fertilizers harm the soil, environment, living organisms, and human health. Organic farming increases soil fertility, yields more crops, and also protects the environment. Organic farming provides pure, healthy food along with good economic returns. It increases the number of Alsiya in the soil, and this leads to better moisture retention, reducing the need for water.”

Inspired by Sundhyaben’s success in organic farming, women from her village and surrounding areas visit her for guidance, and she lovingly educates them about the advantages of this form of agriculture.

Under the Atmanirbhar Gujarat initiative, His Excellency Governor Acharya Devvratji and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel are working towards empowering more farmers in the state, with the goal of realizing the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat through organic farming.
