The second iteration of Surface Go from Microsoft does fix some of the major issues that users had faced with the original Surface Go but as always, Surface Go 2 is still not a perfect device. Of course, the screen size is fairly large and also the processors are faster but the battery life does not live up to the mark and the keyboard doesn’t feel that great.
You could get your hands on a brand-new Surface Go 2 for as low as $399 but it would be pretty useless if you decide to spend only that amount. Surface devices are useless without keyboard, to be honest. So, add that keyboard to your cart for an extra $100 and you are all set to use your tablet cum laptop.
One of the best features of Surface Go 2 is that it features a kickstand that can be bent at any angle. Unlike iPads, you also get a microSD slot if you wish to store more files on your device. Surface Go 2 still features the headphone jack but your keyboard and mouse that connect via USB won’t work unless you have the USB C Surface Connector. Surface Go 2 features a larger screen (10.5 inches diagonally and the max resolution is 1080p) and the brightness is also perfect and I really enjoyed watching the first season of Control Z on my Core m3 model. The bezels are now thinner compared to the original Surface Go and Windows 10 feels pretty snappy. The tablet started to huff and puff once I ran Shotcut and did a bit of video editing, opened a bunch of tabs on Edge and downloaded Age of Empires in background (all of them simultaneously) but that didn’t surprise me because Surface Go 2 is no powerhouse. If you are looking for a tablet cum laptop (which is extremely portable) that runs Windows 10 with a descent screen for Netflix and getting some work done, Surface Go 2 is for you!
