In a shocking development, Paresh Radadiya, a trustee of the D.B. Patel Girls’ Hostel in Atkot and a BJP leader, was accused in a rape case involving a girl from the hostel. This case caused a stir across Saurashtra. In his bail plea, Radadiya’s lawyer argued that the accusations were politically motivated. The court accepted these arguments and granted him bail, considering his readiness to undergo a live detection and narco test to prove his innocence.
The complaint, filed by a girl who had completed her studies at D.B. Patel Girls’ Hostel in Atkot and was working as a rector there, accused Paresh Radadiya and Madhukant Tadhani of rape and death threats. Based on this complaint, the Atkot police arrested Radadiya, and following the chargesheet, he applied for bail in court.
Claim of False Political Allegations
During the bail hearing, Radadiya’s lawyer argued that the victim, being well-educated, should have understood the seriousness of the situation earlier. Despite the incident allegedly occurring a year prior, the victim did not report it to anyone at the hostel, college, or even her family. The lawyer further claimed that the case was filed due to political rivalry and not because of any actual misconduct. Radadiya, confident in his innocence, expressed willingness to undergo both a live detection and narco test to prove his truthfulness.
Court’s Decision
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court noted that the alleged incident took place in June 2023, but the complaint was filed 14 months later. The court also highlighted inconsistencies in the evidence presented, including statements from witnesses and the victim’s medical testimony. Considering these factors, the Sessions Court granted bail to Paresh Radadiya.
Radadiya was represented by a legal team including Advocates Tushar Gokani, Ripan Gokani, Keval Patel, Hardik Sheth, Uzair Qureshi, Yash Vaishnav, Viram Dhrangiya, Nadim Dhandhukia, Vishal Kaushik, Bhumika Nandani, Naimesh Radadiya, and Divyam Dave.
