Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met with officials from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, USA, on Sunday to discuss the establishment of their campus in India. This step could prove to be a significant milestone for the internationalization of education in India. The meeting also included discussions on academic and research collaboration between the university and India. A senior official from the Ministry of Education stated that considering the deep interest expressed by the high-level delegation, the government is optimistic about positive outcomes in the near future.
Gupta Klinsky India Institute Officials Also Included
Officials related to the matter mentioned that discussions also covered dual and joint degree programs, research partnerships in emerging fields such as data science, artificial intelligence, and future technologies. This is the largest delegation of top global institutions from the US to date. It is led by Johns Hopkins University’s President Ronald J. Daniels, and includes officials from the Gupta Klinsky India Institute, which is a branch of the university and is working to connect the university with Indian stakeholders through research, education, and policy. The meeting also addressed the goals of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP).
Johns Hopkins University Has Only 10 Campuses Worldwide
Notably, JHU is ranked among the top universities globally, known for its contributions to research, medicine, and education. It is recognized for its pioneering work in public health and biomedical engineering. Since its establishment in 1876, it has been a leader worldwide. In recent global rankings like QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education (THE), JHU generally ranks among the top 15 to 20 institutions globally. Johns Hopkins University has only 10 campuses worldwide, two of which are located outside of the United States. The university has established the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) Europe campus in Bologna, Italy, and the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in Nanjing, China.
