Suryakumar Yadav starred as India beat New Zealand in an exciting T20 match, delivering a match-winning performance and leading Team India to victory. The Indian batting lineup stood out as it chased the challenging target of 209 runs set against it in the match against New Zealand as part of its ongoing series. The chase of this challenging target stood out as it became completely seemingly effortless as both Ishan and skipper Suryakumar Yadav showcased some superlative knocks of fifty each as India moved into a commanding position of 2-0 in this ongoing series of short-format games ahead of the impending World Cup.

India were in trouble from the beginning as Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma got dismissed in the first seven balls, but Ishan Kishan was unstoppable as he turned the match in India’s favor through his courageous batting style. He was very aggressive from the beginning and went after the New Zealand bowlers to knock big boundaries, reaching his half-century in only 21 balls and putting India in command during the powerplay.

Suryakumar Yadav took matters in his own hands by continuing to apply pressure. The Indian skipper also played his typical variety of shots to take advantage of any loose balls he managed to get. Between them, the two batsmen demolished the bowling lineup from New Zealand, and the target run rate fell precipitously. Ishan finally fell, but to a tally of 76, although by then the match had already tipped in favor of India.

Suryakumar was again in good touch as he got to his first T20 fifty in over an year and was unbeaten on 82 runs, while Shivam Dube contributed as India completed the innings with 28 balls to spare.

The earlier, New Zealand were at 208/6 after some strong middle-order hitting, but India’s batting proved too strong that night.
