Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav’s ongoing struggle with form was evident in the first T20 match against South Africa. He scored just 12 runs off 11 balls before getting dismissed. Suryakumar was trying to clear the mid-wicket boundary with a shot from Lungi Ngidi but unfortunately did not time it correctly and Aiden Markram took an easy catch. He had earlier started with a dot ball on the first equal of the third over, then struck a four and a six. Trying his luck again, he was up for another big shot. The full-length ball outside the off stump bowled at 137.1 km/h had the better of him. His irresponsible shot led to India’s second wicket fall at just 17 runs in 2.4 overs. Earlier, vice-captain Shubman Gill had already been sent back to the pavilion in the very first over by Ngidi. Gill could manage only 4 runs off 2 balls.
